The conception of the design had three requirements: provide a comfortable place to enjoy the family pond through Pennsylvania’s diverse seasons, capitalize on the site’s plentiful natural materials (stone and timber), and sculpt a space that shelters, as well as, inspires a communion with nature. The timber frame is organized into four bents. In this case, each bent is reduced in both height and width. Bent One is the largest and most complex, as it includes joinery for our prowling barge rafters, demanding the use of some compound tenons.
